Hi.
I was wondering if there is a way to change the defolt directory in microsoft word. When i start word and i go to open it always goes in the my documents folder. So if there is a way of changing this it would be good.
Notepad seams to remember wich folder we use to open or save files the last time but word doesn't seam to do it or i don't know how to make it to behave like that.
So if you can help it would be good.
Thanks

Well yes, it can be done but, frankly I'd prefer to save with the save as command instead of the save command, and change the folder there.

But-- if you insist, (this is for microsoft word 2003, don't know about other versions).

Open word.
Go to tools with alt+t.
Find the "options..." icon and press enter.
Use control+tab to move through the multi-page dialog. This is very important. Don't just left or right arrow because some pages will not show up.
Anyway, ctrl+tab to the page that says "file locations".
Press the tab key to get into the page itself.
You are in a selection list, the first of which is "documents", and this is the one you want.
Visually, you have a list of file types such as documents, clip art... . Next to the file type is shown the location where this is placed. Jaws does not read this very well, but if you don't understand, turn on your jaws cursor and read the line you are on. It should say something like "document ... c:documents and settings...my documents".
Tab to the modify button and press enter.
Then you can tab to the folder edit field and type in your folder location.
Click on ok.
Then, click on close.
And your done.

Have fun. <grin>

Thanks Bob.
I tried it and it worked. Your instructions were very easy to follow.
I looked in the options before but i used left and right arrows instead of control+tab so i didn't find the files tab.
Thanks again.
